Kiosk Mode: A Simpler Way to Handle In-Office Testing
When patients test in-clinic, you deserve a simpler workflow
June 30, 2025
We’ve heard from many of you that some patients prefer to complete their assessments right there in your clinic, whether it be on a tablet, desktop, or shared office device. Until now, that process required you to send a manual invite, creating extra steps for both staff and patients.
Enter Kiosk Mode.
This new feature allows patients to complete their assessment directly from a device in your office with no email, no sign-in, or no back-and-forth. It’s fast, secure, and ideal for settings where patients complete testing at check-in or before seeing the provider.
It’s also a great fit for patients who may need extra help navigating the process. With Kiosk Mode, staff can assist patients in real time, whether they need support with reading, comprehension, or simply navigating the technology, without the barriers of individual logins or emailed links.
What it means for your workflow:
- No need to send invites
- No patient login required
- Fully HIPAA-compliant
- Great for waiting rooms and shared-use devices
And it’s not just about convenience. Kiosk Mode may also support billing for CPT code 96138.
If your staff spends 16+ minutes assisting with administration or supervising the testing session, 96138 (test administration by a technician) becomes billable, in addition to 96130, which covers interpretation and report-writing.
We’re seeing reimbursement rates for 96138 ranging from $50 to $77, depending on the payer. This might offer a better fit if you’ve experienced challenges getting paid for 96130 alone.
Want to explore this billing path or need help operationalizing it? We’d be happy to walk you through it.
Kiosk Mode is available now. Let us know if you'd like to see how it works in your practice.
